Domingo Pachanguero

You never know where you'll find Fr. Hoyos. Last weekend he was spotted in Howard County, Maryland, enjoying a traditional Cuban pachanga feast at the home of Enrique Carrillo, a vice president of Chevy Chase Bank. In the photo below (courtesy Washington Hispanic), Fr. Hoyos (2nd from r.) is accompanied by Maureen and Carlos Larrazabal, Senen Semidey, and Felix Semidey.

Reflecting to the Washington Post on Chevy Chase's efforts to reach out to the Hispanic community: "It's a good example to other businesses to be closer to the community," says the Rev. José Hoyos, the Colombian-born director of the Spanish Apostolate of the Catholic Diocese of Arlington, whose projects are supported by the bank. "When you have a program that is doing something positive, why not advertise? Why not do propaganda?"
